A Code Zero is a flat, furling reaching sail for light to moderate air. It sits between the jib and the spinnaker: more power than a genoa on a reach, far easier to handle than a spinnaker.
Why a Code Zero
On apparent wind angles where a headsail goes soft and a spinnaker is a handful, the Code Zero keeps the boat driving — and because it lives on a furler, one person can set and stow it.
- Flat cut: flatter than a spinnaker, so it points higher and behaves on a close reach.
- Anti-torsion cable: a stiff luff cable lets it furl from the top down, cleanly.
- Low stretch cloth: it needs a laminate to hold that flat shape under load.
