The online part is designed to be simple. After payment, a real sailmaker reads the complete order against your boat before anything is released to production.
What happens after you order
Payment starts the order and the review queue. The sailmaker reads the boat record, your configuration, Design Notes and any photographs or files you supplied. AI helps organise the boat data, recommendations and submitted evidence; the final fit and build decision belongs to the sailmaker.
Most complete orders move through review with a straightforward confirmation. Review is not a second blank form and it is not a request for you to design the sail yourself.
What we check
The review brings the parts that have to agree into one check:
- the boat and rig version being ordered for;
- principal dimensions and any actual measurements supplied;
- mast track, furler, slides, cars and corner connections;
- modifications to the mast, boom, bowsprit or handling system;
- cloth, construction, reefing, battens and other priced choices;
- uploaded photographs and notes;
- whether the complete specification can be built as intended.
Review cannot determine whether a mast, boom, track or deck fitting is structurally sound. That remains a question for a rigger or boatbuilder. It does check that the sail is specified to meet the interfaces you have described.
If something needs checking
If one point is unclear, we ask about that point only. It may be:
- a close photograph of a slide, furler or corner fitting;
- confirmation that the boat has a modified mast, boom or track;
- one clearly defined measurement, with its start and end points;
- an explanation of an unusual handling requirement.
You are not sent back to survey the whole boat. Supply the fact only someone beside the boat can see; the sailmaker uses it to settle the design. The order stays in review until the important details agree.
Your Sail Passport
When review is complete, the checked specification comes back as your Sail Passport. It brings the important information into one readable record:
- your boat, rig and hardware context;
- the choices you made, including cloth, reefing, appearance and accessories;
- the dimensions used for the build;
- what the sailmaker checked;
- what changed, who changed it and why;
- price, payment status and the delivery window.
The Passport is being developed as the permanent record for the sail. It is intended to remain with the sail through production, delivery and future support.
What you confirm
You confirm that this is your boat, that the hardware and photographs are yours, and that the customer choices shown are the choices you want. Read any sailmaker correction and ask about anything that surprises you.
You are not asked to approve reinforcement layers, thread, seam construction, fibre layout or a production drawing. Those are production responsibilities. You confirm what you can see; we are responsible for what you cannot.
Confirmation releases production
When you confirm the Passport, the build specification is released to production. That is the point to raise a doubt, not after the material has been allocated or cut. Continue to Production, delivery and receipt.
