Start with the boat. The configurator loads the rig data, previous sails, reports and recommendations already associated with it. Then confirm the headsail system physically fitted to that boat.
Select the boat
Choose from 6,800+ boat models in the boat library, then select the builder, model, year and rig variant where they are known. The configurator uses that record to create the first build.
The record is a starting point, not the final authority. Forestays, furlers, sheet tracks and deck hardware get replaced, and a previous owner may have changed something without changing the model name. Confirm that the record describes the boat as it stands now.
Confirm the headsail setup
The first system question is Has Furling. It is settled by the forestay already on the boat rather than chosen as a sail preference.
Furling means a foil and drum run along the forestay. The sail uses a luff tape or bolt rope matched to that foil, and its UV cover and foam luff are designed around the roll.
Hanked means the sail clips to a bare wire or rod with hanks. The sail is changed or lowered rather than rolled, so it does not need a UV cover or foam luff. Its hank model and spacing must match the forestay.
Moving from one system to the other is a rigging project rather than a sail choice. If you are not certain which is fitted, photograph the forestay from top to bottom, the drum or tack fitting, and one luff attachment close-up.
